Christmas Highlights

I guess everyone's too busy for blogging, but I'll keep this site open a while longer on the off-chance it provides a means of encouragement for some.

As we all embark on Hope2008 I wondered if anyone wanted to share their Christmas highlights?

We've had a good Christmas here in Failsworth - good attendances throughout the advent season and a really busy Christmas Day programme. I'll just pick two highlights:

- a man who came for lunch on Christmas Day and has now started attending Sunday worship. (Well one out one so far!)

- a lady who found her way into our New Year's Eve watchnight service. Never been to our church before, in great distress, and not quite sure why she was there (Amen to that!). Not the first time someone has wailed all the way through one of my sermons - but what a privilege that God sends people who need Him our way. Please pray for Cindy and please pray that the Lord will use the community at Failsworth to be of lasting help to her.

Blessings to all.

ps Viriatos please return our phone call; Stanburys our text...

...and Michael, behave yourself!

Is Anyone Out There?

I do hope you're all having as good a time as we are. It feels very busy already, and probably no one has got time for blogging. However, one or two people asked me to resend the invitations - which I have done, but I haven't got email addresses for everyone. If you would like to be added to the blog please could you email me at the usual SA address.

I did wonder about whether we should start a discussion on what we are all preaching on in our first few weeks, but maybe we should see who's got the worst colour scheme in their house?

We made a trip down to London this week to visit some Australian relatives who came over for commissioning before they leave the UK. It was good to have breakfast with Kevin and Wendy, and catch up with some people in and around college. You may here on the grapevine that our old flat in House 11 has been declared uninhabitable! Please be assured that that has got nothing to do with us!

On a more serious note, some of you will be aware of the concern for Grace Moir just now. I know that Steve & Jo would appreciate your prayers.

Have fun.

What do I do now?

For those of you who have signed up, welcome to the Hogs Blog!

This is just a brief explanation for those who are new to blogging.

1. You need to bookmark this page: ukhogs.blogspot.com

2. The blog consists of two key elements: posts and comments. Think of the blog itself as a diary. Each post is like a page in the diary where something is written. You might only write in your diary every few days, you might write more than once a day. Comments are like post it notes that are stuck to the posts.

3. When you arrive at this page at the top right there is a sign-in link. Use the account details that were registered when you followed the links to become a member of this blog. Your login name will be the email address to which you requested the invitation to be sent.

4. Once logged in you can follow the tabs to create a new post. If you want to comment on someone else's post then find the post you are interested in, select comments and follow the links to add comments. All straightforward, and the blogger site itself contains lots of help.

5. I know some of you have created your own blog sites as part of the registration process. That's fine but you are not obliged to do so.

6. It would be very helpful to me if each member of the blog could add a comment to this post just to let me know that you have arrived and found your way around OK.

Any further questions or problems please get in touch.

29 Days to Commissioning

With commissioning just under a month away, the time will soon come for the heralds to head to all points north, south, east and west in ministry. The purpose of this blog site is to provide a forum for sharing, support and discussion - a place to celebrate together and a place to share prayer concerns.

This will be a publicly viewable site, so do be careful with details that may be confidential, but comments will be restricted - at least initially - to members of the UKT Heralds of the Good News Session.
